Bio
For Kansas native and singer songwriter Val Gault music comes natural to her. For this 30 year old, music is something that she lives and breathes. She is inspired by all that surrounds her - from her faith, to her day to day work, her friends, her family, and the community she has lived and worked in for many years. From grade school on Val was always heavily involved in music in the churches that she attended. Val Gault started off singing specials in grade school and helping her mom with children's services, and then moved into leading praise and worship with fellow youth and youth leaders both in church and in her High School with FCA.
For Val Gault, music was not her first priority when entering into the "real world" so to speak, although it was ever-present in her life. After graduating from a small town high school, she went on to college to earn her bachelor's degree in psychology from Friends University. She continued her music education with both vocal and instrumental scholarships. She performed in all types of groups from small ensembles to large choirs, concert bands, as well as jazz ensembles. In her writing you'll hear inspiration from all of these aspects of her life, blended beautifully into her own style of music.
Early on she discovered her love for writing. She began with poems, and gradually moved into songwriting as she grew older and began learning piano and then guitar. It was not until after college that Val began learning guitar and really started to write and compose music fully. In 2010 Val Gault and her sister played their first show at a local coffeehouse Jacobs Well - Just six months after she had picked up the guitar. In 2011 while she was working as a house arrest officer, she was inspired by a man she saw walking down the street late at night. She wrote “Streets of Gloom”, one of the first songs from her first album “All of Me”.
"All of Me" is the title track that she wrote about motherhood. It is a very reflective album that is inspired by her journey into music. With songs such as "Just another Day" and "Not Mine" revealing the personal struggle and being able to overcome her own self doubts and pride to create the music that had been given her to share with the world. After playing in coffeehouses and churches for a few years she began venturing out. Val starting working in Wichita performing in various venues, from private events, weddings, and fundraisers to local bars and restaurants. In October 2014, Val became the Contemporary Worship director at First Presbyterian church. She is now working as the Worship Leader, along side Llew Brown, at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS for their Protestant Service. She also continues writing and composing original music both Christian and Secular.
Val Gault worked in a female acoustic Duo with Laura Doeden (from Annie Up) through 2015. Cosette played shows in Wichita, including Patios, Restaurants, Bars, Kansas State Fair, and private events all over Kansas. In 2016 Val Joined Marshall Matthews and The Memphis Kings as the lead backup vocalist. The Elvis Tribute Bands plays shows all over Kansas. She is also now the Second Lead Singer and Acoustic guitar / Keys / Harmonica player for The Llew Brown Band. As well as working in an acoustic Duo with Llew Brown. Llew Brown Band and the duo play shows all over Wichita, as well as Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and more. (See Schedule for Acoustic dates and more information).
Her journey into music, as she calls it, is really "God's Journey". He is still unveiling His plans for the music that He inspires her to write. From her perspective it is really His music anyway. She is just the vessel He uses to present it to the world.
